Nothing to end the week like having a more in-depth under the sea adventure! But this is no watered down superhero. Aquaman is the hero we can all shell-abrate, no matter the sea-son. Oh, and I haven’t seen the second one yet…I know, I’m behind!…is it any good…or sand-sational?
Yes, I’m really pouring on the puns today!
And P.S. some may not know that these thoughts are not a movie review, and ask, “water you talking about?” These thoughts are personal and em-ocean-al things I think during the movies I watch. And I wish I could share all of my thoughts from this movie. So, with that being said, don’t let the randomness krill your vibe, dive in and enjoy! And if you see me, please wave and say shello! And hopefully something I share will be shore to help you become a better sailer, diver, and leader today!
We have to make repairs before the storm hits.
Yes, sometimes we need to make repairs during the storm, but they are easier to make if they’re mostly made prior to the storm. It’s harder to see during a storm, but it’s also more difficult to handle materials especially when they’re wet.
We are called to help people stranded on the beaches of life…no matter how they got there.
Thus, as we hear about the wise man who built his house upon the rock and was safe from the storm, I think he also built a big enough house so he could help rescue people from their storms.
There are no coincidences with the people we meet, or the children we bear.
For there are times in life when we need a lighthouse, other times we need to be the lighthouse for others. Sometimes we need a guide and guardian. Other times we need to be those blessings for others.
Sometimes our past refuses to let us go and we will have to fight to break free.
Perhaps because that’s all that the past can do, is cling on to us and try to take us with it so it doesn’t die. But unless we let the past die (we can still keep our good memories), then the future cannot live.
How sad that there are so many who believe that humans (children of God) cannot co-exist because of differences.
We can learn to love, at least get along with, each other. There is plenty for all to share and prosper. It is even sadder that many purposely seek chaos not coexistence.
Interesting that both righteousness and piracy can be passed down from fathers to sons.
And yes, even from mothers to daughters and vice-versa. Nevertheless, just because your father or mother was a pirate, doesn’t mean you have to be. You can be the one to break that link in the lineage.
When people meet us and truly get to know us, will they be proud of our parents or ashamed?
That doesn’t mean great parents can’t have bad behaving kids and vice versa. The more important question is, will someone know our parents, or at least how we were raised because of us and our actions? In other words, especially concerning our Heavenly Parents, will others know God better because of our beliefs and behaviors? Or, will they doubt, condemn Him because of us?
Sometimes we need to miss “Happy Hour.”
Not because we’re not meant to be happy, but because we need to teach people what true happiness means—and not only have it for an hour, but much longer. In this world, too many people are focused on the fun of Happy Hour instead of being faithful to their families, which would bring them a Happy Eternity. But the devil has designed every temptation to bring only temporary “happiness” making us believe in that moment that it can be enjoyed forever.
The devil has spent his entire life living in and fighting from the darkness.
The shadows are his friend and it is in those shadows where you must fight him. Thus, you cannot do it without the light of Christ. Yet, some people have allowed themselves to become so accustomed to the dark that the light hurts their eyes. The things and people that shine light seem to blind them. Yet, those who continue to allow the light in, will adjust to it—as they did the dark—and see it is more powerful! Also, you do not need to become blind or accustomed to the dark to be able to see in the dark. Meaning that with the Light of Christ you will be able to both illuminate and eliminate evils.
Sometimes we have to hide to save ourselves.
But we must not stay in hiding when it’s time for fighting. And hiding is not just to stay idle, but to recover and prepare for when it is time to face and defeat the enemy. Who, is also preparing weapons and strategies to destroy you. Be ready to go!
Yes, sometimes doing what’s right can make your heart ache.
But if it aches because what you’re doing is not about or for love, then it’s not the right decision anyway, regardless of what the other option is. Because if you do something not in the name of love, you’re killing your ability to feel love. And while you may think people who are numb don’t feel, they still do! They may not feel love, or remember what it feels like to receive it, or give, but they feel loss, which leads to misery, hate.
Sometimes you have to let sins and evil influences die from your life so you may live.
And when they die, you don’t need to memorialize them in the cemetery of regret, or your rear view mirror. Let them go and look forward to good and great things ahead, both the blessings and the trials.
Because you are a child of God, you will always be two things—a treasure (to God) and a target ( to devil).
There will come a time in your life when you can no longer stand on the sidelines or sit on the bench anymore. Perhaps today is that day to get into the game, the battle, the war and to win!
