1 Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? Who shall dwell in thy holy hill? 2 He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. [ PSALM 15:1-2 ]
Tabernacle Obstacles
When was the last time you desired to be in the Lord’s “Tabernacle” (temporary presence) or His “Holy Hill” (permanent relationship)? What tried to stop you? What obstacles still try to stop you when you try to pray, read the Scriptures, serve your neighbor, or attend church? Were you too busy? Too tired? Didn’t seem like it was something as fun or as fulfilling to do at the time?
There will always be obstacles—usually of time and energy—that try to distract you from visiting the Lord in His Tabernacle and on His Holy Hill.
Daily Dose of Deity
(Prayer, Scriptures, Service, Worship)
We need to visit the Lord every day and be in His healing, encouraging, calming and comforting presence. However, it’s not just a matter of asking, nor is it a matter of just tasking. It’s a matter of living. Following Christ is a lifestyle, not a schedule. It’s not about checking boxes, but becoming all we were created to be. And what a great blessing that He doesn’t just want us to visit Him in His tabernacle (which is meant to move around), or on His Holy Hill (stable locations like Churches, Temples, etc.) but He wants to be with us always, wherever we are, whenever it is, so that we can have a real relationship with him to bless our lives always and in all ways.
No, this is not easy, but like any worthwhile relationship it requires diligent work.
Walk Uprightly
(Integrity, Morality, Humility)
To be in the presence of the Lord always, it’s imperative to live accordingly. The Lord is telling us how to do so in this verse. When we’re honest with our fellow humans, when we value our virtue and the virtue of others, and when we are humble as to be able to have His Holy Spirit to guide and guard us, we will have more than just a guest room in the Lord’s Tabernacle; we’ll have an eternal suite on His Holy Hill.
After all, who would want the Lord with them always, or even often, if they were not desiring and striving to be and to do good?
Worketh Righteousness
(Thought, Word, Deed)
When you have Integrity, Morality and Humility, your thoughts, words and deed will reflect whoever you’re following, or being influenced by. In today’s world it’s becoming easier to spot a true believer and fellow follower of Christ because they not only stand out, but they stand up for what (and Who) they believe in. Thus, everything they say and do should reflect in some way, the Light and Love of Jesus Christ.
The only way to achieve such worthwhile and worthy watts in one’s life is to follow and connect to the true source of such Living Light [Jesus Christ].
SPEAKETH THE TRUTH
(Honesty, Trust)
When you are honest with yourself and your fellow humans, you gain their trust, and respect. However, notice that the verse adds the defining words, “…in his (her) heart.” That means we not only know the truth and speak the truth, but we live it because we believe it. And vice-versa, what we live, we believe. And this world needs more honest and trustworthy people in it!
That’s why when we are truly following Christ in our lives, we can speak the truth with validity and authority, not just because we believe it, but because we live it.
Home Sweet Home
(Hearts, Hearths)
As we seek to abide in the Lord’s Tabernacle and dwell with Him on His Holy Hill, it’s a great blessing that we can also invite Him to visit and dwell within our hearts and homes and help make them holy. Thus, as we strive to continue to Walk Uprightly, Work Righteousness, and Speak the Truth, we will create such a special place just for Him to come and dwell with us.
As we invite Deity daily in into our domains, decisions and duties, He will bless us with the strength, courage, integrity, inspiration, peace and all that we need to have joy and succeed.
